Reinforcement Class
WHAT IS REINFORCEMENT CLASS?
The primary purpose of reinforcement class is to provide students with specialized instruction designed to build reading, writing, mathematics, organizational, and study skills as identified in their respective education plans.
We provide re-teaching and review of classroom lessons from all areas of the curriculum with an emphasis on building skills. We also help students with their homework and longer term projects as needed; however, reinforcement class is not a study hall. Because the class only meets every other day, students should always complete as much homework as they can at home. Students should never "save" their homework assignments for reinforcement class if they are able to do them at home without support. This allows us time to focus on reteaching concepts from the curriculum as needed and to help students build skills to make progress toward their IEP goals.
All students in Reinforcement class are provided with assistance with their organizational and study skills, with additional specially designed instruction provided to students who struggle in this area. Ultimately, the goal of Reinforcement class is to help students build the skills and independence they need to achieve academic success in eighth grade, high school, and beyond.

No More Loose Papers!
Have you forgotten where you stuffed that worksheet? Is your backpack or school bag full of crumpled papers? If so, you need to change your paper handling habits. When the bell rings at the end of a class, don't just stuff that homework assignment in your backpack or bag. Take the time to file any worksheets, reference sheets, notes, or returned tests and quizzes in your binder before you rush out the door. Or at least put them all in a pocket folder so you can file them later.
It's also a good idea to clean out your backpack or bag once a week. This really doesn't take long and its something you can do while watching TV. Make sure to file your papers by date in the appropriate subject binders. Throw away only the papers you are positive you won't need to study from later.
