About Me
I am the Special Education lead teacher for the junior high. Although I primarily work with eighth grade students in inclusion classes, I also teach specialized reading classes to seventh and eighth grade students. While I enjoy working with students of all abilities, I especially enjoy working with students with learning disabilities and learning differences. They inspire me with their hard work and their determination to succeed in spite of their challenges.
This is my seventh year as a special education teacher at Tantasqua Regional Junior High School. I earned my Master’s degree in Education (Moderate Disabilities, grades 5-12) from Bay Path University. I am also certified to teach visual art (K-12) and middle school mathematics.
I have an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts (Painting) from the Maine College of Art. In addition to other jobs I had prior to becoming a teacher, I taught art classes for children and adults through community organizations in Maine and Massachusetts. I have shown my paintings and drawings in galleries in Maine, Massachusetts, and Florida; and I also do commissioned portraits. All of the images on this website are of my original artwork.
